Who I Am:

I'm a world-traveled & professional, but "daily life" oriented woman(5'6", blonde, dark blue-eyed and 130 lbs) who loves sharing the joys and pleasures of life as well as adventure times & most serious serioustimes with a best friend & lover. These include outdoor,cultural & family dimensions of life, grappling with the state of the world, and traveling or wandering through the diverse parts of this planet - from San Francisco through the most remote places. Both in the context of my professional work (I'm a college/university faculty member, a researcher...) and family pleasure times, I've been fortunate to experience many places and cultures, including in African nomadic areas, tropical islands in the Pacific, the mangroves and crowded places of South Asia, and many more. These experiences have taught me that daily life shared takes precedence: even the simplest times outdoors, in the arts, facing the serious social and environmental issues before us, or loving the lightest times. I believe that we can have a life based in the beautiful rhythm of days & nights shared with someone who matters, whether in San Francisco, Sicily or Suva. I'm a high energy person with a zest for relishing all days and nights with sun and wind on my face - particularly near the sea or water (that includes a wonderful rainy day at home. I gravitate to boats, fish and sea - but I am also a terrestrial creature who loves deserts, mountains & forests. I have never changed from believing in friendships forever and I believe that friends can be from the young (my 20 year old son is my friend, as are many of my students) to the most seasoned. I am 'well educated'(a Ph.D.) but some of my main teachers have been African nomadic elders, Fijian fishers or Chicago blues/jazz musicians. I have rarely met an animal I didn't like or at least find interesting -from dogs & cats to colobus monkeys & blue-footed boobies.
